Mr. Muhammad Abdullah is a a highly experienced and internationally trained General Surgeon with a remarkable travel journey. He completed his medical education in Lahore, Pakistan, and pursued his initial internship and basic residency in Southern Africa before undergoing further surgical training in the United Kingdom.
Following this, he obtained two Surgical Fellowships from Glasgow (Scotland) and England and subsequently returned to Pakistan to practice as a General Surgeon. His career then led him to Malaysia, where he served as a Senior Surgical Lecturer at the prestigious University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, while also practicing as a General Surgeon at the University of Malaya Medical Centre.
Mr. Abdullah's professional journey brought him to Australia, where he completed a Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Surgery at the Peter MacCallum Centre in Melbourne and obtained his FRACS from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He also pursued specialised fellowships in Esophageal and Gastric Surgery in Hong Kong and in upper Gastrointestinal surgery at the Western Health in Melbourne.
Since 2008, Mr. Abdullah has been practicing as a General and Laparoscopic Surgeon in various hospitals in the Goulburn Valley. For several years, he also undertook the role of Supervisor of Surgical Training for the advanced surgical trainees recruited by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
Mr. Abdullah remains committed to teaching surgical trainees and medical students, holding the position of honorary Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Melbourne's Shepparton Campus. He has contributed articles to surgical journals and presented papers at international conferences.
Since his arrival at Shepparton in 2008, Mr Abdullah has been part of the Shepparton Surgical and Endoscopy Group (SSEG). For logistic reasons, the group has now been decommissioned and will cease operations from end January 2025.
Mr Abdullah will continue his surgical practice with the trade name of Goulburn Valley Surgery and Bariatrics. His new Rooms are located adjacent to the previous premises, within the confines of the Shepparton Private Hospital. His office and nursing staff will remain the same and the locations of his consultations and surgery will remain unchanged.
When away from surgery, his interests include Golf, Gardening and Photography.
