About Me

I graduated from the prestigious King Edward Medical University, Lahore Pakistan. Having done my internship in Southern Africa, I moved to the United Kingdom to get my early surgical training. In the UK, I obtained the first two of surgical fellowships from Scotland and England.

Subsequently I returned to practice surgery in Pakistan. This was followed by a move to Malaysia where I worked as a Senior Surgical Lecturer in the reputed University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Here I taught the Surgical trainees and wrote papers in surgical journals. Simultaneously, I practised clinical surgery in the associated large and modern teaching hospital, the University of Malaya Medical Centre.

My move to Australia came due to an offer to do a Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Surgery at the Peter McCallum Cancer Center in Melbourne. With a young family in tow, I decided to settle permanently in Australia.

During my early years in Australia, I obtained my Third surgical Fellowship by passing the FRACS examination in General Surgery. Within this period, I also travelled over to Hongkong on a GB Ong fellowship to train in Oesophageal & Gastric Surgery.

The training period finally culminated with a year of Upper Gastrointestinal Fellowship at the Western & Sunshine Hospitals in Melbourne.

Having moved around in four Continents, I finally decided to drop anchor with my young family in Shepparton, Victoria in the year 2008. In Shepparton, I joined the Goulburn Valley Health and the Shepparton Private Hospital with regular clinical sessions at the smaller Cobram, Numurkah and Kyabram Hospitals. I have stayed here ever since, enjoying my stay in this beautiful Regional city.

Besides holding Academic positions in Malaysia, I have been the Supervisor of Surgical training in Shepparton, through the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, for nearly seven years. I still teach and train the Advanced Surgical trainees and resident surgical doctors.

When away from surgery, I am fond of Gardening, Golf, Photograhpy and reading books on History.
